What Happened When I Put My Fate in Your Hands
Plus, would you like a word for 2025? I can send you one.
Puzzeld about a direction for 2025, I asked this community to give me a word / intention / direction for 2025. I was a tinch nervous. Would I get challenges like “take singing lessons,” “try nude beaches,” or “stop buying shoes,” or “spend six months as a tradwife”?
People suggested great words for reflection:
1) Enjoy. “Enjoy ... the moment, the person, the book, the meal, the challenge. We get caught up in the hustle and drama of life. Enjoy your life. It's a choice and a happy feeling. Kind of like your soul smiling.”
2) Write. Yes! Thank you for that one.
3) Visit: what a joyful invitation. Get that fold-out sofa ready,
4) Unexpected: A former colleague commented, “Even though you plan in advance and like having your days set out for you, I think it would be good to realize there will be many unexpected happenings and surprises… there will also be unexpected surprises to enable us to cope…”
Unexpected. I loved all the nudges and thought about each one. I felt most drawn to Unexpected. Loving the unexpected opens up lots of room for adventures, conversations and surprise.
How about you? Do you have a simple word to inspire you for 2025? A word to reflect on? If not, you can try this great word generator created by Jen Fulwiler. Or, maybe you want to chuck it all? Kaya Oakes reminds us that “that failure is going to happen and that your life still matters and still has meaning.” We take none of this into the chemo room or to the grave, she notes. Unless it’s the love for the unexpected…that’s portable!
If you’re still thinking, I can send you a star word for 2025, chosen at random. You can get it in the mail, or digitally.
All good wishes to you for 2025, whatever the year holds.
This book by Heather Harpham was a delight to read over the holidays. It’s the rare memoir that has the emotional suspense of a novel, plus deep reflections on friendship, how we change to accommodate a partner, and the terror of being a parent with a sick child.
As always, thank you for your insightful words. It's always a joy reading your writings. And thank you for the word generator. To my surprise & delight, my word generated was "unstoppable ". Even though this is one of my motivating song titles, I haven't been feeling so unstoppable lately. Thank you for the nudge & reminder 🤗
I'm so glad you spared us any further suspense and shared your word! "Unexpected" is a great choice - I hope you'll update us about how that shows up for you in 2025. Now I'm wondering if any image or symbol is coming up for you? For me it's a surprise party (a personal nightmare). How about you?
